Fascinated by the rich and powerful history of headpieces, which are signifiers of royalty and ceremony, Jennifer is inspired by the talismanic power of a good headpiece. Cinderella may have been shod, but Kings and Queens are crowned.
Jennifer Behr's headpieces are the most luxurious headpieces available on the market today. After majoring in sculpture and art history, Jennifer honed her skills stitching custom headpieces at a tiny millinery shop. This eventually led to Jennifer designing the hair accessory collection for hairstylist Frédéric Fekkai in 2001. When Fekkai discontinued his hair accessory line, Jennifer's buyer at Bergdorf Goodman encouraged her to start her own collection, promising to buy it sight unseen.
Each Swarovski crystal is prong-set by hand, and silk flower petals are curled using a pair of tweezers, so each petal maintains an organic shape. Everything is made from start to finish in a network of workshops throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn, and is finished in the Greenpoint, Brooklyn studio.
Jennifer's designs and quality of workmanship have made her a favorite of stylists and celebrities including Amy Adams, Jessica Biel, Helena Christensen, Alexa Chung, Lauren Conrad, the Fanning sisters, Lady Gaga, Maggie Gyllenhaal, the Kardashian sisters, Jennifer Lawrence, Blake Lively, Ashley Madewke, Madonna, Rooney Mara, Leighton Meester , the Olsen twins, Katy Perry, Natalie Portman , Rihanna , Winona Ryder, Zoe Saldana, Emma Stone, Charlize Theron, Liv Tyler , Olivia Wilde, and Oprah Winfrey.
